Rain Litter – born 5 August 2025
The Rain Litter was born on a day in early August 2025. One of the summer’s heaviest rain showers began just as the last kitten was born – and so the theme for the litter became rain, with names that are humorous expressions for heavy downpour in various languages. From the very beginning, the mother and kittens have all been doing extremely well.
The mother of the litter is KCH FI*Northalla Kesäyön Usva, a blue silver spotted ocicat (OCI as 24), and the father is the gentle, even-tempered brown spotted ocicat male SE*Alsmarks Mhenlo (OCI n 24), called Niilo. Warm thanks to Mari of AmareCattus Cattery for letting us borrow Niilo. And many thanks also to Niilo’s breeders, the Alsmarks in Uppsala!
Both parents’ temperaments can clearly be seen in the kittens: they are sweet, brave, and very people-oriented. Taking photos of them was always a small adventure, as one of the kittens almost invariably climbed onto the photographer’s shoulders while we tried to capture a moment where everyone faced the same direction.

Offspring:
FI*Northalla Det Regner Skomagerdrenge (OCI ns 24) – male, silver spotted, nickname: Saku/Sakke
The name is Danish and means “it’s raining shoemakers’ apprentices.” Saku stayed to live with his mother Usva and grandmother Tipsu, and will hopefully grow up to become a stud cat for a future ocicat litter.
FI*Northalla Chover A Cântaros (OCI n 24) – male, tawny spotted, nickname in his new home: Temma / Muru
A Portuguese expression for heavy rain, meaning “it’s raining buckets.” Temma, Muru… naturally, a beloved kitten gathers many nicknames. His new home is nearby in Tampere, where he lives with an older ocicat gentleman and a beautiful domestic longhair lady.
FI*Northalla Raining Cats And Dogs (OCI ns 24) – female, silver spotted, nickname in her new home: Eini
The best-known English expression for a heavy downpour. Small but full of personality and courage, Eini moved to Kauniainen.
FI*Northalla Piove A Catinelle (OCI n 24) – female, tawny spotted, nickname in her new home: Vilna
A humorous Italian saying meaning “it’s raining like from buckets/pots.” Long legs and plenty of speed! Vilna’s new home is also in Tampere.
